University meets society: Students present Posters on interreligious encounters in digital spaces at the Protestant Academy Frankfurt
On February 12, 2025, Prof. Armina Omerika and Prof. Nathan Gibson, together with students from the seminar “Jewish-Christian-Islamic Jewish-Christian-Islamic Encounters in Digital Spaces” were invited to the Protestant Academy Frankfurt.
After a theoretical introduction, students presented practical projects in an interactive poster session. They examined “Sinnfluencers” and their networks, hashtags and their community-building function as well as the role of aesthetic presentation and the marking of religious affiliation in comments. The focus was particularly on the platforms Instagram, YouTube and TikTok.
With this exchange, the public was given a first glimpse at the relatively new research field of interreligious relationships in digital spaces.
