International Conference
The international conference of the research project “Islam & Digitality: Media, Materiality, and Hermeneutics” will take place on July 10 and 11 at Goethe University, under the direction of Prof. Dr. Armina Omerika.
The conference brings together scholars from various disciplines who are researching the diverse interactions between Islam, digitality, and media culture. The focus is on the impact of digital spaces on religious knowledge production, cultures of memory, and forms of community building, as well as the question of how Islamic hermeneutics, religious authority, and practice are changing under the conditions of digital transformation.
The program includes international panels and specialized presentations, as well as two keynote addresses by Sariya Cheruvallil-Contractor (Coventry University) and Heidi Campbell (Texas A&M University).
Participation in the conference is free of charge. Registration is not required.
